The Northern Belle is a privately operated luxury train inspired by the golden age of 1930s rail travel. The journey is the experience itself.
The train: seven restored Pullman-style carriages, each named after a great British castle or stately home — Alnwick, Belvoir, Chatsworth, Warwick, Glamis, Harlech and Duart — with marquetry, mosaics and hand-painted details.
Arrival: a red-carpet welcome on the platform, and a steward to show you to your table.
Dining: a Champagne reception, then a seasonal multi-course meal prepared on board by our chefs, with sommelier-selected wines.
Entertainment: strolling musicians move between the carriages.
Most journeys are hauled by heritage diesel locomotives, with heritage steam on advertised steam specials. Read more about the train.
